How To Tell If You Need Termite Control

Termites are dangerous pests despite their small and harmless appearance. They can destroy your whole house silently and you won’t even realize until it’s already too late. It is therefore necessary for you to know every sign and symptom of termite damage and start adopting prevention measures before everything is destroyed.

Being able to identify termites is very important. Termites can look deceptive and be mistaken for flying ants or other insects. Termite wings are of the same size unlike those of flying ants whose one set is larger that the other. The size of termites measure about a quarter inch in width and one sixteenth in length. They do not have any body segments.

Termites tend to swarm in with similar looking insects and are mostly found during the spring months after it rains. Once termites are detected, you must call the pest control or termite control professionals immediately.

Termites are known to create tubes to live in them. They usually extend from wooden pieces and furniture, having their roots in soil. These mud tubes can be broken very easily and should be destroyed as soon as they start growing. If they tend to grow back, the problem is serious and calling a pest control professional would be necessary.

Termites always infest woody and damp corners; wood being their chief food source and a damp atmosphere suitable for their living. Hollowed woods, cracks and crevices are spaces in which they prefer to hide and are indications of termites having infested in them. Strong anti-termite solution requires to get rid of these pests. Certain local termite companies also offer free inspections for the first time and can offer you opinions and solutions. These are often quite helpful, especially when you are not sure of a termite infestation. These inspections are also important as helps you assess the extent of damage caused and mend them in time before greater and more severe damage is caused. Taking risks is not a rational decision and delaying would cause further damage or increase in the termites number.
